Scraptathlon week #1

This was my page for the first week of scraptathlon on scrapbook.com. I was voted 5 out of 28 pages turned in. I couldn't believe it. This is of my son Steven in 2001 shortly after 9/11. I am not the best at photography but I couldn't believe my pictures had turned out this good. the middle small picture I altered in picasa, it softens everything but the center. I think I may use this picture again and use it as my focal point on a different page one day. This challenge at scraptathlon runs for the next 10 weeks. This coming week we have to make a page out of our morning breakfast or lack of....I am looking forward to this challenge. If any of you have never been to scrapbook.com you should come and join us over there, they have a whole forum devoted to challenges and I am addicted...LOL....I am addicted to everything scrapbooking. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Snow trip page

Well I finally got a page done. Actually that would be 2 pages done this week but I am currently in a challenge at scrapbook.com called Scraptathlon and one of the pages I did can't be uploaded until the voting is over on Friday. This page is of my oldest son Josh and our first trip with our church to the annual snow trip they do every year. I'm not sure why I have put off going every year but I won't put it off again. The kids rode on sleds and Josh got some snowboarding in. Anyway, everything I used is from Stampin Up. I am totally in love with this new paper and the snowflake flurries as well as their new in colors. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

RESOLUTIONS for 2009

I know many of us make resolutions and then 2 week later they are all but forgotten but this year I truly want to make it. I am listing certain goals I think I can stick to and not break.

FINANCIAL GOALS
1. Pay my bills the week they come in and not get anymore late charges.
2. Start a savings account and add to it and forget about it....hard one for us
3. Take $25.00 every pay and buy a gift card for use next year for Christmas shopping. 1 month of cards at Wal Mart, 1 month at Target, 1 month at Toys R Us, 1 month at the local mall, and 1 month a Game Stop. (I never want to be in the situation I was in this year)

FAMILY GOALS
1. Start a family reading night (Monday nights)
2. Get my boys into sports
3. Monthly family card night (SCUM......YAY)love this game
4. Monthly family outing...movies, Mountains, picnic, bowling, dining out...
5. Sunday night weekly themed dinners (only night we are ALL home)
6. Bi weekly craft project or home improvement (build skills for the kids and myself)

SCRAPBOOKING GOALS
1. Organize my millions of papers and STUFF
2. Get at least 3 pages a month done
3. 2 recipe pages a month
4. Get a nice box and organize my cards in it so I don't have to go looking for cards.
5. Blog twice a week
6. Join monthly challenges and DO THEM....super hard for me, I have hit a scrappers SLUMP

BODY GOAL (so not an easy one for me)
1. Start walking
2. Loose 5 pounds a month and if it doesn't happen don't give up
3. Keep a food journal
4. join Curves with Jillian (my daughter)

This is a big list but I know it's all doable. I hope everyone had a happy new year and that maybe we can all help each other stick to our resolutions.

Christmas Program

Tis the season to go to school Christmas programs and where will you find my sweet 3rd grade boy...on the sidelines snuggled up to grandma. I asked Mitch why he won't sing with his class and in a very serious voice he stated "I don't sing because I'm a Scorpio, Scorpio's only dance" and needless to say his grandma and myself couldn't stop laughing all through the program and then all the way home. This is only some of the funny things he says on a daily bases. When the classes were dissmissed all the families left through the other doors, we heard him telling his teacher why he wouldn't sing and when we saw him he was dancing away down the halls. Next week he will sing but not dance, it changes from day to day, make that minute by minute.

We had SNOW in Las Vegas

Snow in Vegas, UNHEARD OF!!! Now every so often we get flurries but nothing the kids can ever play in but yesterday Dec, 17 2008 we had snow for a couple hours and when it stuck the kids made snowballs and walked around in it. I took lots of pictures and made a comfort food that reminds me of winter...LOL....no not soup, although if I had the stuff for soup I surely would have made it, we had homemade turkey potpie....it was so warm and rich and yummy....so unlike our bone chillin temperatures. Some of my kids were MIA and the ones that were around (my youngest 3) played and tried to catch snowflakes in their mouth. I had wished for snow and I got it. The only downfall is that Ub couldn't go to work and that is scary...that means our only check to Christmas shop with will have one day of work on it....This was such a fun day and one the kids will remember because the schools got closed for the day (today, Thursday Dec, 18th 2008) I know to some it's funny because we get 2 inches of snow but in this town that NEVER gets snow we aren't equipped for it. Las Vegas has 2 snow plows...LOL...and they are up in the mountains. It's been a fun day but very VERY cold. I don't even own a pair of pants...LOL...just Capri's...and I can't remember what a pair of socks feels like on my feet....wait do I own socks??? hmmmm must check that out. I am such a desert rat. Have a happy holidays everyone.

1 of my Christmas cards

I belong to a monthly stamp club and the Stampin Up demonstrator made this card (she found it on the internet) I of course had to alter the card to make my own. She did hers on all white and being the layering person I am I had to add the Ridinghood Red and the Baja Breeze to make the layers. The snowflakes were stamped in Baja Breeze then I used Dazzling Diamonds to glitter them. The tree and bird were stamped in Basic Brown. I made 5 of these cards....I am, for the first time EVER sending out Christmas cards. I love getting them but I hated sitting down and writing them all out...LOL...I have more cards I am going to make, the stuff just hasn't come yet. Thanks for looking and have a Merry Christmas.
